This art is 5000-year-old traditional art. The whole process is divided into four stages: designing, weaving, tying, and dyeing. At the very first, we design the attire, where the paperwork happens with a decision on the use of threads, fabric, color, weaving, and the art of weaving. This process itself takes 4-6 months of time span to get just plain fabric with weaving. For the third stage, we trace the design for the dyeing, and we send that for the tying at a particular artist’s place and decide the color for the bandh, which takes 6 months to 2 years of time. Finally, we dye the fabric, with its calculations of thread count and fabric. Dyeing is known as ‘Rangaat, and coloring on the bandhej requires tricks and skills to maintain its beauty. It is a very calculative process to make the right blend. It is an Indian style of tie-and-dye process articulated in the best Indian traditional fashion.
